Donate Housing

In September, hundreds of people flooded into New York City to Occupy Wall Street. Two months later, Occupiers were evicted from their homes in Liberty Plaza, and while we continue to fight for symbolic spaces, we need to make sure that displaced occupiers have access to shelter. Through partnerships across the city, we have been able to house many members of our movement. We are pursuing various housing options, but the need for space is still urgent. If you can donate housing space, please contact Housing at 646.397.4544 or housing@nycga.net (housing null@null nycga NULL.net).

Host An Occupier

We are currently looking for NYC residents who are interested in opening their homes to Occupiers in need of a break, a warm place to sleep, and a chance to relax. Please click here (http://housing NULL.nycga NULL.net/host-an-occupier/) to learn more.

Donate Meeting Space

In order to govern itself, Occupy Wall Street relies on two types of community meetings: Spokes Council and General Assembly. Currently, we still hold General Assemblies outside in the cold (and sometimes the rain); we pay $450 per week to hold our Spokes Councils in doors. We are always looking for less expensive, high occupancy (200+ persons) spaces in which to hold these meetings. We are also on the look out for smaller spaces for other meetings, trainings, teach-ins, and conferences. If you have such a space, want to help us find one, or want to make donations on our behalf in order to help get us access to spaces, please contact meetingspaces@nycga.net (meetingspaces null@null nycga NULL.net).

Donate Food & Kitchen Space

The People’s Kitchen feeds the OWS community every day in addition to supporting specific actions and events. They need volunteers to make and serve food, materials to make into yummy food, places to cook and trucks to get it where it needs to go. Please contact Joshua (br.joshua.l@gmail.com (br NULL.joshua NULL.l null@null gmail NULL.com)) or Kyle (skywalkerstyle@gmail.com (skywalkerstyle null@null gmail NULL.com))

Donate Wheels

We are urgently looking for a truck and a van to deliver food, clothes, and warm supplies to occupiers after the raid. Contact Zak at operationocc@gmail.com (operationoccupation null@null gmail NULL.com)  if you can help!

This page is a work in progress and seeks to direct donations to our high needs areas. Constructive comments are always welcome and the page will hopefully updated regularly. Please email Ravi at volunteer@nycga.net (volunteer null@null nycga NULL.net).

  2. Hit WALL STREET where it will feel it the most…IN ITS WALLET!!! BY MONEY!!!

You should have an alternative for 99% of Americans.
    For example:
WHERE TO BANK? Answer: Banks whose CEO do NOT make 300x what their workers make
WHAT FUEL TO USE? Answer: A company who is investing lots of $$$ in alternative fuels
WHAT DEPT STORE TO SHOP? Answer: A Dept Store whose CEO does NOT make 300x what their workers make…Alternative method of products…Only in America
WHAT CARS TO BUY? Answer: Alternative Fueled cars. Only in America Co/ Good Employment record
Each of these companies, the CEO MUST be wiling to be interviewed by YOU!!!

Use this method on ALL normal/usual/everyday products and services!!!!
Contact entertainers/religious leaders/Sports folks/Politicians to support the cause!!!!

  3. How can we all help? I believe we can help greatly by no longer using the term: “We Are the 99%”. To use the term 99% creates an Us v Them mentality, and it is divisional and exclusionary. It’s our belief and preference to use the term 100% or 99+1%… If we are all in this together for our future, and the planet as a whole, then the only option is to see ourselves working together towards the 100%. Let’s speak to our future, and tomorrow.

  4. I liked as much as you will receive performed right here. The sketch is tasteful, your authored subject matter stylish. however, you command get bought an nervousness over that you would like be handing over the following. unwell definitely come further before once more as precisely the similar just about a lot frequently inside case you protect this hike.

  5. Hi,

I am with the “Peanut Butter and Jelly Gang” (you can find us on facebook). We are a food bank and soup kitchen on Long Island and we would like to bring food and personal hygiene items to you this Saturday evening, if you need them.

I have looked at your website and know where to drop these off but I want to ensure that you can use the items. There would probably be 300 fresh sandwiches as well as 100 wash up kits which would include soap, towels, toothpaste etc. Can you use these things? Please let me know. If so, I plan on driving into the city after 9 p.m. this Saturday evening.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

  6. Sent you a small donation. Hope it helps. Thanks for all you’re doing. You are my heroes. From Mark A in Northern Virginia.

  7. I would like to make a contribution to OWS. However, I am concerned as the radio programs here in So Cal. are claiming that the protestors in San Diego are causing havoc, urinating on food carts, costing the city thousands of dollars for police to maintain order etc.

Is there truth to any of these reports? The info is being broadcast by Rick Roberts of 760 KFMB

    Thank you

    • Randy, I don’t know about San Diego (I live in San Jose), but see my comment at the bottom about the need for counter balancing the sensationalist reports.

My guess (unfortunately without data to support it, other than experience with Occupy Oakland) is that there are indeed some protesters in San Diego doing those things, but they are a small minority, and not supported by the movement mainstream. At least in Oakland, some of the vandals do identify themselves with Occupy, but they do not share the majority belief in non-violence. (Those are the ones in hoods seen smashing windows or spray-painting.) The people in various cities attacking food vendors or engaging in fights or public obscenity are usually not politically motivated at all, they are just the kind of angry street people with mental health or substance abuse problems who were hanging out downtown even BEFORE Occupy. They get perceived as part of Occupy simply because the same public spaces are being used.

Also, cities often claim the “need” for a much larger police presence than is required. Certainly that is the case in Oakland and Berkeley. There is no need for hundreds of police in riot gear ringing the street in an intimidating bully display. That is a TOTAL waste of city money. Cities would do better to maintain cordial relations and ask the Occupy organizers what kind of assistance they could provide in protecting property and protecting peaceful merchants and protesters from disruptive elements. It would generally be a much smaller staff than the city thinks is needed.

One thing I would consider donating to is for reimbursement funds for Occupy groups to contribute back to the city coffers for salaries of sanitation workers, etc., with a request for the city to publicize on local news that they are being reimbursed. For Occupy to get critical mass understanding from the silent majority of the 99% who sit at home and know only what they see on television, it is going to have to be very VISIBLE in its non-violence and respect for the commons. The majority is a great bunch of people, but the majority is not SEEN enough.

  8. Nice post. I used to be checking continuously this weblog and I am impressed! Extremely useful info particularly the last part :) I maintain such information much. I used to be looking for this certain information for a very long time. Thank you and good luck.

  9. Very nice post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed surfing around your weblog posts. In any case I’ll be subscribing for your rss feed and I hope you write once more very soon!

  10. Hi, i believe that i noticed you visited my blog thus i got here to go back the want?.I am trying to find things to enhance my website!I guess its good enough to make use of a few of your concepts!!

  11. My brother suggested I would possibly like this web site. He was entirely right. This submit truly made my day. You can not believe just how much time I had spent for this info! Thanks!

  13. I’m one of those “over-compensated” Civil

I’m one of those “over-compensated” Civil Service retirees (from NY State) who’s living on an old-fashioned “defined benefit” pension. The kind of thing that the Governors of Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin et. al. seem to HATE. Well, let me tell you that I think that I’ve earned it, and it wasn’t stolen from the State’s taxpayers. Earned it in the sense that my salary was usually several steps below that of people doing comparable work in the private sector. I never rose to the level of the 1%-ers, of course. I doubt whether even our Governor makes as much as even a middle-level hedge fund manager on Wall Street.

Now, with the pension, I make nowhere near what I made on the job, and I’m deep down in the 99%, so I’m all for what #ows is doing. Keep it up!

  14. I am not positive the place you’re getting your information, but good topic. I must spend a while learning more or figuring out more. Thanks for magnificent info I used to be searching for this info for my mission.

  15. Its like you read my thoughts! You appear to know a lot about this, such as you wrote the e-book in it or something. I think that you can do with some percent to drive the message home a bit, however other than that, that is magnificent blog. A fantastic read. I will definitely be back.

  16. ELCTRIKCHAIR (elec-tric-chair) was the first political musical group to voice strong opinions like those of OWS. Visit: http://www.elctrikchair.com (http://www NULL.elctrikchair NULL.com)

This band stood in front of the corporate tank on the American Square before anyone else dared!

  17. Can donations be targeted to specific needs?

Here is what I would like to help with. There is a hugely distorted of what Occupy LOOKS LIKE among the general public, because the national media emphasizes the sensationalist clips of violence and the most outrageous elements they can find. They even send their reporters to seek out the scruffiest protesters with the most extreme posters to interview, in hopes of getting some wacko speeches to put in the news or put on the Breitbart type web sites, in hopes they’ll go viral.

Searching for balancing examples on YouTube etc. is difficult, because number of prior views heavily weighs what gets brought to front. Protests, marches, and police actions get a lot of views; meetings and workshops don’t.

So it would be ENORMOUSLY helpful in spreading awareness of what the everyday work inside Occupy is like if all of the important events (the ones that get listed in the Events calendar) would be recorded, and then after the event, the best videos would be uploaded uncut, and the Events calendar page for that event would be updated to contain links and tweet tags to those videos.

Then when someone sees anti-Occupy propaganda getting passed around, they could easily go to the event calendar, and share those links, spreading the truth to counter the garbage. Right now, the truth is too hard to find.

Also, many of the workshop and teaching events, like the Non-Violent Communication training, or the Money in Politics event or the Occupy the Polls training, could become valuable resources for Occupy assemblies in other cities. Again, while I imagine many of them are already being recorded, the recordings are too hard to find. The wheat is lost in the chaff.

So I would like to contribute towards cell phones, batteries, web hosting fees, and anything else that might help the “working event” side of Occupy to be easily and widely visible to the entire world.

    • Seems like a good idea. I especially like the idea of recording the non-violent communication workshops for other cities to benefit from. I happen to be siting next to one of the trainers right now and will suggest it. Thanks @teripettit .

As for donations for equipment, it’s fine to donate money at the link above. It all goes into a general fund which would be used for whatever video equipment is needed for such things.

You might also want to make this suggestion to the internet working group, since they would be the ones to aggregate the links to the videos. http://www.nycga.net/groups/tech/

  18. I am now not positive where you’re getting your information, but good topic. I needs to spend some time finding out more or understanding more. Thank you for magnificent info I was in search of this info for my mission.

  19. Wonderful work! That is the type of information that are supposed to be shared across the web. Disgrace on the search engines for now not positioning this submit higher! Come on over and consult with my website . Thank you =)

  25. With all the states trying to suppress voting for ordinary Americans, and the fact that who we vote for is responsible for the loose regulations on Wall Street — why aren’t we ‘Occupying the Vote’? — in all those states where the suppression is a funded effort to deny voting in 2012 and continue the debacle that allowed Wall Street to happen in the first place?

  26. I believe in taking back our government. But i also think that human nature dictates that some people at OWS will profit. Also, the ows site has moderator(s) behind the scenes ,that arbitrarily & with no courtesy of warning, can render you mute.Just like your government has.A little “Big Brother” at OWS?

    Be careful.Power corrupts!

  27. Thanks , I have recently been searching for information about this topic for ages and yours is the best I’ve discovered till now. But, what concerning the conclusion? Are you sure about the supply?|What i don’t realize is in reality how you’re not actually much more neatly-preferred than you may be right now. You’re so intelligent.

My blog, The Liming Liberal Digest, has been in support of what OWS is doing. Please note that there are no ads on this blog and there is no money made from it. It has never been about money. I am fighting the good fight to protect and preserve the Heart and Soul of America.

  29. Hey, I don’t know if this is the right forum for this but I just want to say that I am a strong supporter of what you guys are all doing. It’s about time someboday is standing up for the truth of what is and has been happening in this country. I admit that I am a local government employee at the present (a municipal health inspector), and though right now I feel lucky to have this job, what is happening to a large number of people in this country is ridiculous. Even for those of us who have jobs, we should be getting more for our efforts and contributions. No one in this office has gotten a single raise in over 3 years. I still can’t afford to move out and live on my own, and yet my boss makes over 5 TIMES my salary. That is not right, and that doesn’t even compare to the top 1% that you guys are standing up against.

However, from what I know and have seen I have some suggestions for you guys:

There really needs to be some sort of large group established in Washington DC. The property surrounding the White House, the Capitol Building and even Washington Monument should all be occupied (peacefully). The people occupying these areas should be well aware of the issues and how things of changed for the worse since the founding fathers started this country out of the American Revolution.

Besides those locations, one other VERY important location where there should be an Occupation (and which I’m surprised there isn’t already, unless I just haven’t heard about it) is the the Federal Reserve Board located on C Street N.W. Why there are no protesters here I have not a clue, but there certainly should be. Many of the economic problems in this country stem from the Interest-ridden Debt-driven Dollar that is produced by this institution. With a debt-free monetary system, I feel many of the economic problems of the US would be fixed or least made less severe.

One another institution people should be gathering at is IRS headquarters, located in between Pennsylvania and Constitution Avenue. There is also a building where the IRS does most of its computer programming in Maryland as well, but the main headquarters is the DC location. Showing resistance to the agency that enforces the Federal Income Tax (an unconstitutional, direct, unaportioned tax that was never ratified by an efficient number of states) would, I think, help address the another root of the problem even further.

All of the people involved in this movement should really have a clear cut idea of what they want done and what needs to be done to address the problem. The enthusiasm, spirit and patriotism is excellent as their political freedom is being sufficiently expressed. The social and economical freedoms are not, and in order to do that there needs to be more of a clear-cut idea needed to push forward. It’s like saying I don’t like this cookie, and then asked what kind of cookie you do like, the response is “I don’t know.” Know what I mean?

Anyway, that’s my input. I hope this goes as far as it could possibly go and forces a positive change in America. I’m with you all.

    Chris

  30. Excellent blog right here! Also your web site rather a lot up fast! What host are you the use of? Can I get your associate hyperlink to your host? I wish my web site loaded up as fast as yours lol

  31. How are you! Tell you some truth, no one can solve all people’s employment problem, because of machinery speed too fast, output of machinery and production lines are too huge, the only way to solve all social problems is only human rights social rules (including the minimum living indemnity rule). You guys should think careful about. Please you guys tell these truth to all everyone participate in the activities and everywhere occupation activities take place.

  32. Hi my loved one! I want to say that this article is awesome, great written and include almost all significant infos. I’d like to peer extra posts like this .

  33. NOT even a single person with no children can be self sufficient on $8 bucks per hour, minus taxes, minus gas, minus insurance, minus over priced rent.. etc. Raising the minimum wage would solve just about everything. For example:IYou want to get these greedy, disgusting, corporate clowns attention? Quit shopping at Wal-mart and big corporate chains and start shopping at small businesses. Also, reduce your insurance coverage to liability only if you can. Shop at second hand stores, get everything used. Why buy new? It’s considered used the minute you buy it anyways. Only buy the cheapest food, rough it for a while, the other greedy companies will have to lower their prices, their stocks would fall, their income will go down. WE are the 99% they will feel it. Raising minimuge wage would be great because these corporate hoards would have to pay their workers something they can actually live on, and intead of taking home 20 million per year each, they may have to only take home 2 million per year. WHO CAN’T live on 2 million a year??? Get what you want at garage sales .. Quit going to corporate restaurant chains… go to ma and pa places. Trade services, barter with eachother…

  34. Great goods from you, man. I’ve take into accout your stuff previous to and you are just extremely wonderful. I actually like what you’ve received here, really like what you’re stating and the way in which by which you are saying it. You make it enjoyable and you still take care of to keep it sensible. I can not wait to learn much more from you. That is really a great website.

  35. Wonderful work! That is the kind of info that should be shared around the net. Shame on the search engines for no longer positioning this put up upper! Come on over and visit my web site . Thank you =)

  37. Can I start a new Group for Wall Street documentaries (videos). I would like to submit my Video Journals? I have added a lot of new videos and I believe the web sites can be great learning tools for people looking to understand OWS.

It’s the WE, Party and it appeals to 100% of the people, 100% of the time.

The WE Party is about helping and inspiring others primarily online. It’s about doing what’s right. If a person does something that 99 out of 100 people feel is right and there is one person that doesn’t feel that way, then it is wrong! WE are the people with Character!

Occupy Wall Street turns to the WE Party (www.we.net)

WE will know more when the WE Party Volunteer Online Mentors complete our talks with the Super Committee and Occupy Wall Street. Right now WE are at 99 1/2%.

  42. The WE party mentors have helped with the debt crisis in Greece, the unification of North and South Korea, the conflicts with Palestine and Israel. WE can help right here in our own back yard!

Okay here it is…. The Super Committee is going to come up with a plan shortly. Now, lets say there are 100 items on the Super Committee’s list. As each item on the list is agreed to unanimously by 100% of the democrats and republicans, that one item goes into the WE Party Committee (www.weparty.info). The WE Party only looks at what we do have in common and has nothing to do with what WE don’t have in common.

This WE Party Committee is about moving forward with 100% collective consciousness on what we do have in commom and collectively works on ways we can move forward together. The WE Party Mentor is an online volunteer (www.wepartymentor.info) that helps and inspires others online in a variety of ways. The WE Party Mentors (www.wepartymentors.info) often have WE PARTIES (www.weparties.info) to help and inspire others.

In regard to Occupy Wall Street, the WE Party can help here too! Using the same Pass It Forward Philosophy (www.pifphilosophy.info), we can work item for item and one by one create WE Party Committee’s to help us move forward.

  47. I am in Fargo, ND and I support you guys 100%. I think it is shameful the ways in which the established classes are trying to marginalize your voice. I am tired of having a ‘democratic’ system which does not listen to the voices of it’s own people. A system where the politicians are so blatantly serving their own self interests and the interests of the wealthy. A country where our own property is gladly up for sale to the highest bidder like Rick Perry runs his state. We are the 99% and we’re sick of this broken political system.

The contributions are intended to help fund a Music Event in NYC called “Battle Against the Brands” which will feature all the upcoming musicians that sing about our economy. This is a great idea which will:

    1) Help #OWS find a musical theme for the movement
    2) Tie more people together to support #OWS movement
    3) Help fund small businesses and begin an anti big-business campaign…Small businesses need a jumpstart in order to bring back what America really stands for.

If the Occupy Movement results in the development of a parallel (or even better perpendicular) questioning media of the people as opposed to the current Media which is owned by the Leech Elite for the benefit of the Leech Elite – then it can only be positive.

I recommend that the Occupy Movement asks each of it supporters to set up a €1 (or $1) per month direct debit to fund this Global Media Network of the People. If we can get 10 million people Globally to support the initiative – it will raise €120 million per year to finance the People’s Global Media Network.

    Best regards,

    Dermot.
