The Technology Operations Group supports the online communication and organization needs of OWS and the New York City General Assembly. We seek to provide online tools that promote participation among occupiers and beyond by extending communication streams and promoting the exchange of information. We do not editorialize, but rather support and reflect the structure and decisions of the GA, not guide them or alter them. Although we promote the use of Open Source solutions, we intend to use whatever technology will best meet the needs of the communities we serve.
We have our open meetings on Sundays and Wednesdays at 6pm at 60 Wall Street

im starting to wonder if those who shut down the ’GA’ were meaning to right before they got consent to MAY DAY….hmmmmmm

Sumumba, only those that let the GA go away can. The GA was supposed to be a concept that was part of the fire in peoples souls. To of let someone say the GA is over, is letting someone control your passion. I was shocked and in disbelief when it was announced the GA was over. When did everyone and not just a few of the elite agree on it? Never.…[Read more]

Feedback from most is Nobody wants the G.A. to go away, but nobody wants the G.A. as it was. Even with 10-15
people the last 2 months and no Drama, it is exhausting. This Saturday is devoted to restructure: What worked?: “hand signals/twinkles, Stack / What didnt work?: Blocks, money discussions. We are also looking at Vision and Goals CT…[Read more]-
I think you are on track. It is critical for OWS to work together and not 100′s of little separate groups. Focus on goals. The GA brought everyone together. No one said it would be fun. A GA is a painful part of work. A GA should be where problems are hashed out is where detailed proposals are made, the proposer may be questioned for…[Read more]

This is good stuff. Money’s obviously got to be dealt with (anyone who wants to ”burn the money” feel free to start with your own and report back
) but GAs really aren’t the forum, as experience indicates.-
Thanks @direkconek for the feedback. Definetly not the Forum. Can we change that? Think its too late?

Tonight at 60 Wall Street a group came to the G.A. that wanted to start a new Working Group called ”Occupy Deserts”.
They want to bring a table of baked goods to union square, etc. If Tech Ops is no longer adding Working Groups to NYCGA.net, what should we tell them?- No new working groups are being added? Where should we send them?-
I can’t tell anyone what they have to do, but I would certainly recommend working with the Kitchen group in that particular case.

I’m aware it’s a not a new group. But, typically, group management and adding new admins/mods is the role of group admins, not Tech Ops. So, the question is whether we should add new admins to the existing group. There is also generally a question about addding new groups since the Group Policy requirements can’t currently be met (and don’t…[Read more]
