Title of Proposal:
 Training in Self-Defense & Anti-Oppression Response Techniques

Description of Proposal

Request for funding in the amount of $300 for Training in Self-Defense & Anti-Oppression Response Techniques

Trainer Annie Ellman, Founder of the Center for Anti-Violence Education will offer a training for (up to) 24 female-identified participants. The workshop will offer skills for self-defense from sexual harassment and other aggressive behaviors.  Participants will practice skills for addressing aggressive, and/or violent behavior including bullying.  The workshop will focus on confidence building, self-reliance, and techniques that create open dialogue, raise tolerance and promote understanding.  The intention is to empower enough WOWs who could then offer these skills to the entire OWS community.

We feel everyone should be empowered to stand up for themselves and protect each other from both emotional and physical harm.
The training is planned for December 18 at 4pm at Pace University.  The specific location will be announced to the entire community as soon as confirmed.  Female-identified participants please save the date.
