OWS Archives Start-up Budget proposal (as of 2011/11/9)

[REVISED 2011/12/15 due to recent increase in hard-drive prices and extra $ for archival supplies, up to $500 as per general email discussion]

This is the budget proposal for materials required to begin the long-term work of establishing the Occupy Wall Street Archives.

  1. Secure temporary storage in Downtown Manhattan area: $1800
    Rent for storage (estimated 70 sq. feet at $275 per month for 6 months)
  2. Transportation for moving collected signs to storage: $50.00
    Transportation (cab/car + subway): $50.00
  3. Archival equipment for data back-up, scanning & cataloging: $1,670.00
    Scanner/printer: $100.00
    Netbook (suggested Hercules eCafe EX HD): $260.00
    External hard drives (LaCie Rugged All-Terrain 1 TB FireWire 800/FireWire 400/USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive): 2 items at $230.00 /ea. = $460.00
    Archival quality digital camera (Olympus E-PL1): $350.00
    Misc. archival supplies (folders/sleeves, pens, file bin, portfolios) : $500.00
  4. Oral History equipment: $190
    Zoom H2 recorder $140
    Stereo Headphones $40
    4GB SDHC Memory Card $10

TOTAL:  $3,710

This budget was revised as of December 15, 2011.

This document was emailed to the OWS Archives list on October 31, 2011 at 4:00 pm with the plan of action that all archives working group members review and revise any of the proposed items before TUESDAY before MIDNIGHT (11:59 PM) or raise any objections and concerns about these items, so we can go forward with proposing this to the General Assembly. (This plan of action was consented to by Archives WG meeting from 6-7:30 pm, Oct. 30, 2011 at 60 Wall Street.)
