General Assemblies

Posted by & filed under .

Hello Occupations,

My name is Trish and we are the New York City General Assembly working group. Please find us at nycga.net and join. If, you are in the New York City area, we strongly advise you to come to our weekly meeting.

One of our (my) major task(s) as a working group(individual) is to preserve and protect the (dis)integ(ration)rity of the General Assembly.

It as come to this group’s (my) attention that the GA is being referred to as a process (because it is abstract) rather than a body of people (OCCUPIERS) (which is concrete).

The individual(s) who took the liberty to distort the decision making body of the Occupy movement (everyone that does their best to obstruct the process at every meeting with insults and threats), is not in solidarity with the principles of the movement.

LET IT BE KNOWN:

IT IS UNDERSTOOD BY OWS, OCCUPIERS, ACTIVIST, STAKE(SHARE)-HOLDERS, SUPPORTERS, KNOWN & UNKNOWN(what I’m trying to state is that, obviously, everybody agrees with me):

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLIES OF OCCUPUY WALL STREET IS THE DECISION MAKING BODY OF THE OCCUPY MOVEMENT.

IT IS THE PRIMARY BODY, NO OTHER INDIVIDUAL, WORKING GROUP, CORPORATION, OR ENTITY HAS THE POWER TO ALTER IT’S AUTHORITY, BUT, BY THE APPROVE OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY (GA).

PEACE & LONGIVITY

This document was NOT BROUGHT TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY for consensus. It does NOT abide by our Statement of Autonomy.

    Further more,

It as come to this group’s attention that the GA is being referred to as a process rather than a body of people (OCCUPIERS).

The New York City General Assembly was created before the occupation and played a major role in planning the September 17, 2011 occupation of Zuccatti Park. The GA uses a process of modified consensus.

The idea that there is a NYCGA working group that speaks for everyone individual involved in the NYCGA is absurd.

I am very worried about Trish and her group hiding behind a shared account and posting documents such as these. It pains me to see people accuse other’s of doing subversive acts while participating in what APPEARS to be a very DISHONEST actions.

THERE IS NO WORKING GROUPS TO MY MINE OR THIS GROUPS MIND THAT SPEAKS FOR EVERYONE INDIVIDUAL INVOLVED IN THE NYCGA.

      WE FIND THIS ABSURD ALSO.

PLEASE DO NOT DISPARGE THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE GA WORKING GROUP.

TRUE, THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS TO CAUSE WORRY WITHIN OWS, BUT I ASSURE YOU THIS WORKING GROUP DOES NOT FALL IN THAT CLUSTER.

FEAR IS A HORRIBLE THING, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS VOICED FOR A BASELESS REASON.

MY PERSONAL SUGGESTION TO YOU IS RELAX…WE HAVE WORK TO DO,,,,LET’S DO IT, WITHOUT FEAR OF THIS ONE WORKING GROUP.

ALSO, THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY WORKING GROUP MEETS ON WEDNESDAY @ 60 WALL STREET, 8PM

      PEACE & COURAGE

      SECOND THOUGHT…

I THINK IT’S COMPREHENDED…OR WE WERE LEAD TO BELIEVE.

ONE….THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, SEPARATE AND DISTINCT.

TWO….THE PROCESS, (CONSESUS) THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY?

PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG.

      PEACE & CONTEMPLATION

If a corporation isn’t a person, then a working group can’t be a person either. Nor can a person be a working group.

    HI TOM,

i AM IN TOTALNON- AGREEMENT WITH THAT CORPORATION (PERSONHOOD),ETC.

IN RESPONSE TO OWS WORKING GROUPS; STATED IN SEVERAL OWS NYCGA.NET DOCS. RELATING TO WHAT CONSTITUTES A WORKING GROUP.

WE HAD AN ATTENDENCE OF 7-8 PEOPLE AT LAST WEDNESDAY MEETING.

(WOULD HAVE HAD MORE, BUT, THERE WERE OTHER MEETINGS GOING ON AND NOT EVEN YOU CAN BE IN THREE PLACES AT ONE TIME.

    WEDNESDAYS, 8PM @ 60 WALL

    PEACE & CLARITY

Sorry if no one finds that funny. I just felt a little compelled to emphasize the absurdity of the situation. It was all in good fun.
