Closing and thanks

We may have an impromptu gathering, based on how people are feeling and how it’s going, in front of the prison across the street. At 3:30pm we will gage whether or not to do it.

Margo and Dior are going to work on what will be said prior to the march. The purpose, POC in jail, how it intersects with feminism, white patriarchy, etc

Margo will have a friend translate the email to everyone in Spanish. Maybe Yukiko can translate as well?

This is the email:

Women Occupying Wall Street (WOWs) invites you to the 4th Feminist General Assembly (FemGA) on Saturday, August 18th at Harlem Meer from 2 to 4 pm. This month our conversation will focus on the struggles particularly important to people of color. We hope to begin the work of planning actions focused on racial, gender, and economic justice. We are committed to addressing the issues that affect us all, and we are eager to work in affinity with everyone towards common goals.

We plan to have discussions about:

Living wage

Domestic workers

Immigration

Educational system

Reproductive rights

Incarceration

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Solidarity,

WOWs

The rain date is Sunday, August 19th from 4 to 6 pm.

Directions to Harlem Meer: Take the Uptown 2 or 3 trains to the Central Park North – 110th St stop.

Our next planning meeting is next Thursday, August 9th at 7pm. Place – John Jay (Jill will let us know where)

Margo and Dior will be going to Harlem on Tuesday, August 7th at 5:30pm. We are meeting up at the 2,3 train stop Central Park North – 110th St. We want to give out flyers and speak with the community.

If any one else can come that would be great! Preferably a person of color. Lorena? Natalie? I feel two light skinned women might not have the same effect.
