Join the Fight to Save Our Post Office on Staten Island!
There is much more involved here than union-busting and privatization of a vital public service as rotten a scheme as that is. Staten Island is still reeling from Sandy. Postmaster General Donahoe flatly rejected the pleas of two United State Senators to postpone the closing at least a year to give us time to recover. There have been rumours for some time (denied by the USPS) that operations at 3 North Shore PO’s will be moved into the space vacated by the move of mail processing equipment at Manor Road. This is the heart of communities populated largely by people of color and immigrants. (Btw, the Post Office is the largest employer of people of color making over 50K a year.)
