To all Debt Resistors, Activists, Anarchists, and World Changers:
March 1, 2013 the fare on the NYC subway will be increased yet again and this is only one of the many planned increases. And a big part of that fare goes straight to the banks for debt repayment. This is a regressive tax, the less money you have the more you are affected by it. EVERYONE but the 1% rides the subway. 6 figure managers, artists, servants, doormen, cooks, waiters, office workers, entrepreneurs, homeless, all races, all classes, and all boroughs ride the subway, regularly. This is a huge community building opportunity.
To that end, the last board meeting before the fare hike takes place is this Wednesday beginning at 10am, be there by 9am with signs (may or may not be allowed in, if they see them) and speeches ready. You can get on stack to discuss how these fare hikes will affect you. The location is 347 Madison Avenue (between 44th/45th st). Come on out and be heard.
At issue with the MTA right now are:

  1. Fare Hikes.
  2. More racist adverts to be posted.
  3. The MTA’s interference with the bus strike on Mayor Bloomberg’s behalf.

This Wednesday will be a great opportunity to address these issues live and in person.
If enough show up maybe we can have some sort of action following the meeting? we are occupy after all and very capable of putting together an action on the fly.
