 width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \><\div>\n<div
id=\"id_519da90b699126c27382094\">We are having a conversation about trying
to build back up to having an active presence in Liberty Plaza as a means
to interact with and educate the public once again just how the shit got
fucked up and bullshit - to try to rebuild a sense of community that has
waned in the intervening months\, and to revitalize the resistance efforts
more broadly by making them accessible to the public by having a
consistent\, predictable presence. We may not be able to lock down an
encampment at Liberty Plaza but we can certainly reclaim the use of the
space as a public forum\, and have an awesome late-spring day in the park
together in a way we haven't in a long time.\n\nOnline conversations kind
of suck\, especially at identifying who the stakeholders in a conversation
are. They certainly aren't \"consensus\,\" and a decision of the sort that
this conversation is replicating would need to be an open and horizontal
conversation. This seems like the kind of conversation that should be had
by the people who would be the ones doing it\, without any pressures or
expectations about what would come out of that conversation. Some people
had some of this conversation already - reportback below. We want MORE
people to have MORE of the conversation\, and wholeheartedly invite
everyone to 100 William Street at 5pm on Wednesday\, May 25th to continue
this discussion.\n\nOccupy here in NYC is a lot of different groups\, all
of whom are stakeholders. Please help reach out to them and invite them to
this conversation\, so everyone who is invested in this can have a place to
come together in community and be heard. The more of us there are\, the
greater the change we can bring together in this world!\n\nNOTE\: This
Friday's meeting is scheduled for 6pm at Liberty Plaza. In case of rain\,
we are setting the backup location as 100 William Street - the forecast
anticipates rain but we're planning optimistically\, but also planning
 accordingly.<\div>

SUMMARY:March Against Monsanto
DESCRIPTION:Greetings\, citizens of New York City. We are the voices of many\, and we
are well beyond infuriated. Over the past months we have witnessed many
atrocious acts committed by our very own government that accumulates in
multitudes. Most recently\, while most of us were distracted by the Supreme
Court case dealing with the Constitutionality of same-sex marriages within
the state of California\, our ever so beloved leaders stealthily signed
into law the Monsanto Protection Act\, or the Farmer Assurance Provision
2013. This bill states that the Secretary of Agriculture may grant
temporary deregulation status so that genetically modified organism (GMO)
farmers and growers may continue the cultivation of biotech crops that had
previously been approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)\,
even as legal challenges against the safety of those crops are underway\,
and prevents courts from interceding the review process. What's even more
hideous is the clear\, cold fact that lawmakers and lawyers from Monsanto
collaborated in creating the provisions of this criminal act. Yes\, that is
correct\; Sen. Roy Blunt\, Republican of Missouri\, worked in collusion
with lawyers of Monsanto to create legislation that allowed the sale of GM
products that were harmful to the country's citizens. Though it will only
remain in effect for six months until the government finds another way to
fund its operations\, the message it sends is that corporations can get
around consumer safety protections if they get Congress on their side.
Furthermore\, it sets a precedent that suggests that court challenges are a
privilege\, not a right.\n\nThe people have spoken\, and the consensus is
vibrating with outrage. Does your stomach churn at the mere mention of
these sick-in-the-head individuals ruling our every moment? Then join us on
May the 25th as we march through NYC and show Monsanto\, Congress\, the
President\, and the World that We\, the people as a whole\, united as one\,
have had enough. Stand beside your fellow brothers and sisters as we stand
up against those who wish to do us harm so that they may rake in cash at
 the cost of our health\, lives\, and family.\n\nMISSION STATEMENT\:\n<a

SUMMARY:March Against Monsanto - Mickey Z. on Food Justice\, GMOs\, &#38\; the Vegan Option (Eat Like a Revolutionary)
DESCRIPTION:March Against Monsanto - Mickey Z. on Food Justice\, GMOs\, &amp\; the
 Vegan Option (Eat Like a
 Revolutionary)\n\nFacebook\: https\:\\www.facebook.com\events\170480206449064\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSaturday\,
May 25\, 2013\n\n3pm\n\nWashington Square Park\n\nJoin us after the March

part of the March Against Monsanto Free School\:
 https\:\\www.facebook.com\events\522561597780211\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThis
teach-in is FREE\, wheelchair accessible\, and open to the
 public\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nContrary to corporate propaganda\,
genetically-modified (GM) products have not been proven safe - yet\, 93% of
soy\, 93% of cotton\, and 86% of corn grown in the U.S. are GM and roughly
80% of all processed food contains at least one GM
ingredient.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSo yeah\, it feels great to scream \"Fuck
Monsanto!\" when that single corporation owns 90% of GMOs grown on the
planet and enforces patents by forcing farmers to sign \"technology
agreements.\"\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nBut\, despite all this\, food justice means
much more than just Monsanto.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFood justice means learning the
truth about GMOs\, sure\, but also pesticides\, additives\, and other
corporate toxins.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFood justice means accepting the urgent
need to grow our own food instead of state-enforced\, pesticide-laden
lawns. FYI\: The most irrigated crop in the U.S. is
lawn!\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFood justice also means that the animal-based diet is
directly responsible for unspeakable cruelty\, a human health holocaust\,
exploited human workers\, and irreversible environmental devastation - from
deforestation to water pollution to topsoil erosion and well
beyond.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFood justice means factory farming consumes one-third
of the planet's land surface and is the number one source of human-created
greenhouse gases.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFood justice means surrendering the
privilege of speciesism.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFood justice means cultivating\,
eating\, and sharing plant-based\, locally grown\, organic whole
foods.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFood justice means we have to re-imagine our
relationship with the natural world...NOW.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nJoin me on May 25

SUMMARY:Bangladesh Solidarity Retail Store Action
DESCRIPTION:Meet at Herald Square\, 34th St. &amp\; 6th Ave. this Monday\, May 27\,
2\:30pm (Memorial Day).\n\nWe stand in solidarity with the workers of
Bangladesh and are outraged over the tragic collapse of the Rana Plaza
building\, which has killed more than 1\,100 garment workers. This follows
the fire at the Tazreen Fashions factory last year where more than 100
Bangladeshi workers lost their lives.\n\nOn Monday\, join with <a
href=\"http\:\\99pickets.org\">99 Pickets<\a> to visit several retail
stores near Herald Square and demand that they sign on to the legally
 binding <a
 href=\"http\:\\99pickets.sciencepanic.com\files\2013\05\2013-05-13_-_accord_on_fire_and_building_safety_in_bangladesh.pdf\">Accord
on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh<\a> (pdf).\n\nRSVP on
 Facebook\: <a
 href=\"http\:\\on.fb.me\10qxm97\">http\:\\on.fb.me\10qxm97<\a>\n\nThe
accord\, a new agreement between several global union federations and 40
prominent apparel and retail companies\, requires companies to participate
in and fund a program of independent safety inspections\, remediation\, and
worker safety trainings with the involvement of trade unions. They must
maintain commercial terms that enable factories to maintain safe workplaces
and finance repairs. The program will be overseen by a Steering Committee
consisting of an equal number of representatives of trade unions and
companies and one representative of the International Labor Organization.
It will be enforceable through binding arbitration.\n\nIt has been
estimated that a mere $0.10 more per garment would pay for the factory
improvements of this program. Is 10 cents per garment too much for worker
 safety? Walmart\, K-Mart\, Gap\, Target\, JC Penny\, and other U.S.
retailers say \"yes\". We say \"no more bloodshed!\" It's time to hold U.S.
retailers accountable for their inaction.\n\nWhile a few U.S. companies
 have signed onto the Accord\, most\, including the Gap\, Walmart\, Target\,
J.C. Penney\, Sears\, and Kmart\, have not. The time for individual and
ineffective “corporate social responsibility” programs is long over.
This legally binding\, multi-stakeholder Accord is the kind of framework
that is much more likely to result in safer factories and better jobs for
garment workers.\n\nWe demand that all apparel and retail companies that
have production in Bangladesh join this program.\n\nRSVP on Facebook\: <a
