Rally Against Fracking at Cuomo’s State of the State Address!

Cuomo Ban FrackingOn January 8, concerned citizens from across the state of New York — from Long Island to Buffalo — will converge in Albany. We’ll be gathering outside of Governor Cuomo’s State of the State Adress to send him a strong message: Ban Fracking Now!Governor Cuomo recently said that he will make a decision on fracking by the time elections happen in November. Now is the time to show Gov. Cuomo what science dictates: that fracking is dangerous and harmful, and that the movement to keep New York frack-free is unparalleled and growing every day. With the Governor starting his reelection campaign soon, we need to make it clear that if he wants our support, he must protect New Yorkers’ health from fracking.

We know that fracktivists are dedicated, hardy souls. However, we want to assure you that this rally is entirely indoors.

Attention New Yorkers! Governor Cuomo says he will issue a decision on fracking before the November 2014 electionRead the news here.

This makes it absolutely critical that we show Cuomo that the science dictates no fracking – and that he witness an unparalleled and growing movement of a majority of New Yorkers who decisively will not allow fracking in New York!

Governor Cuomo’s State of the State Address is where we must send that message. It’s where the Governor lays out his plans for the year. It’s where he lays out his re-election messaging. It’s where we show Cuomo and all of our elected officials that New York must remain frack-free.

This is the critical crossroads – on the fate of New York and the nation – where we remain. In one direction is fracking, leading to further catastrophic dependence on fossil fuels. That path is lined with drill rigs, contaminated rivers and water wells, smog and toxic air, dangerous pipelines, compressor stations, and other infrastructure, and poisoned farms. It leads to a future with worse climate change, super storms and public health disasters.

In the other direction – Governor Cuomo and the people of New York say no to fracking and instead embrace renewable energy. That path leads to good jobs, healthy families, and sustainable homes and communities. New York can step up and show the nation and the world a place where people can live, work and thrive without dirty and dangerous extreme energy. We can take a stand for public health and clean water. We can champion and support our jobs in agriculture and tourism and continue to develop more jobs in efficiency and renewable energy like wind and solar.

Once again, Governor Cuomo has announced a decision will be made before the 2014 election and the fate of our state is at stake.

We need all of you to join us in Albany at the State of the State address on Wednesday, January 8th, 2014 in order for Governor Cuomo to see that the will of the people of New York is to say no to fracking and yes to a healthy, renewable energy future.
