Bloomberg Vetoed NYPD Reform - EMERGENCY RALLY AT CITY HALL!
Bloomberg vetoed a ban on racial profiling? OH HELL NO.

Late yesterday, Mayor Mike Bloomberg vetoed the Community Safety Act bills that would ban discriminatory profiling in New York City (Intro 1080) and establish oversight of the NYPD (Intro 1079).

Really, Bloomberg?? You vetoed a BAN ON RACIAL PROFILING??? We know you’re gonna be unemployed next year – are you looking for a job as sheriff of a Southern town in the 1950′s?

So of course we’re not going to take this lying down. And we hope you’ll help us make some noise.

Join us this afternoon to tell Bloomberg
YOU CAN VETO A BILL BUT YOU CAN’T VETO JUSTICE
1PM on the s
teps of City Hall
TODAY – July 24th 2013
4/5/6 to Brooklyn Bridge
1/2/3/A/C/E/J to Chambers St

If you can’t make it this afternoon, YOU CAN STILL DO SOMETHING!!!! To take action (including contacting your Council Member) to ensure that the Mayor’s veto is overridden, visit our take action page here.

Before vetoing both bills, the Mayor ignored calls by City Council Members to hold a public hearing to listen to the voices of New Yorkers affected by police profiling, discrimination, and lack of NYPD accountability. For a full statement from Communities United for Police Reform on the Mayor’s veto, click here. The bills now head back to the City Council where Council Members will have an opportunity to override the veto.
