This week marks 7 months since Super Storm Sandy hit our region and Occupy Sandy formed.
Whether you quit your job and have been working full time on hurricane relief for the past 7 months, organized like crazy for the first few weeks and then drifted on to other things, canvassed for a couple of weekends, or did any other variation of volunteering/organizing, we would love to invite you to join us to debrief the past half of a year.
We encourage everyone who is working or has worked with folks on the ground to spread the word to them as well. We will be working on a transportation plan as the date draws closer.
Plans for an agenda are still in the works but include space to talk over personal experiences, examine what worked and what we can learn, and perhaps talk a bit about what is coming next. This will not be a decision making meeting, but rather a space for sharing and coming together as a community to examine what we’ve been through together and document lessons learned that we can share with others. Afterwards, we will socialize at the yacht club bar!
The first hour will be a “documentation and resource fair”. This will be an opportunity for projects or groups that are still doing work to set up shop around the room while others have a chance to hear about what is happening and how to re-engage. Please contact Tammy at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in having a spot at the resource fair.
Keep your eyes out for more solid info, coming soon!
But for now: save the date! Friday, June 14th, 5:30 pm.
