NYC Operational Spokes Council 1/2/2012 (Summary)

Posted by & filed under Assemblies, Spokes Council Minutes.

NOTE: This is a brief summary that is posted prior to formal minutes. This summary is NOT all-inclusive. It includes only major highlights (discussion topics, proposals, and meeting dates/times/locations announced). This summary is compiled via Livetweets and Livestream viewing.

– Working Group Report Backs

*Facilitation: Last night’s GA was forced out of a privately owned public space. We moved when the cops told us to. However, tomorrow night’s GA will be held in the same place – 100 Williams – at 7pm, in solidarity with Direct Action, NLG, city council members and maybe a senator, and we will NOT leave. Everyone should come, make a stand with us. NOT for dramatic shows of protest, just holding a GA in a public space.

*Direct Action Painters: Need six people to hold banners tomorrow at the GA, that talk about free speech and public space.

*Safer Spaces: Working on latest draft of community agreements, look it over with your working groups and get your feedback back to us.

*Legal: Meeting tomorrow at 56 Walker from 5-7pm, let NLG hear more from OWS regarding legal issues and concerns.

*Accounting: Bring us your receipts!

*Volunteer Services: Changed name to OWS Works

*Arts and Culture: Have poster flow charts of the Declaration of Occupation for any working groups that can use them

*(not sure of WG): 32J and Nurses’ contracts were settled, thinking is that they were settled due to OWS interest and involvement!

– Proposals

*Town Planning: Empower Spokes Council. RESULT: CONSENSUS

*Proposal: Delay admitting new working groups into Spokes Council until 1/20, when new ComHub working group criteria are posted. RESULT: CONSENSUS

*Discussion about Friday night’s Spokes Council and exclusions.
