The agenda at this night’s spokes council was tabled to discuss an emergency proposal from Jeff from housing following a violent fight that broke out outside the meeting room between members of OWS.
Jeff proposed that the group condense to ask Will, the person responsible for starting the fight, to leave the movement, and to restrict the resources OWS had previously been offering to him, including housing, food, participation in GA and other events, until there’s a road back via mediatiation.
Jeff accepted friendly amendments from
Kitchen: that kitchen would not be asked to deny anyone food in public spaces
: That the words “credible threat of violence” be used in place of “verbal violence”
DA: That a breakout group will convene Friday to build a ‘road back’ or appeals process for any person who’s kicked out.
Media: That this decision, and the subsequent precedent it sets, will only apply until a more comprehensive Safer Spaces agreement is concenced upon
Women Occupying Wall Street: that the entire community be made aware and that de-escalation and witnesses stand at entrances and inform the individual specifically while they’re banned.
Safer Spaces: That the SS working group will reach out to those harmed in order to determine an accountability process.
