Proposal for Sunday 12/25 General Assembly: Metrocards

Posted by & filed under Assemblies, Past Proposals.

The housing group would like to continue the process of weekly metrocard requests
that has been ongoing for the previous three weeks. To facilitate the participation
of the various individuals and workgroups that are making a tangible contribution
to to the daily operations of OWS we would like to request funds to purchase 7
day unlimited ride metrocards from the NYC MTA. The number and amounts are
detailed as follows:

We would like 140 total metrocards for distribution

- 4 cards returned to OWS Accounting from the 08.Dec.11 proposal

- 16 cards returned to OWS Accounting from the 15.Dec.11 proposal

- 120 new cards @ $29 each for a total $3,480.00

This is a reduction of 10 total cards from last week’s proposal, and by using
undistributed cards, a reduction of $870 in funds.

The proposed process for distribution will remain the same, each person who
requests a metrocard will need to have a completed authorization for signed by
a point person from a working group. Cards will be available on a first come,
first serve basis, will be distributed from 6p-9p @ 60 Wall St by a committee of
reprentatives from the Housing workgroup. People who have received a metrocard
in the previous week are required to verifiy possession of that card before receiving
a new card.
