Ok. So for the past 2 days, we’ve been so excited to see everyone starting to use the site. As the activity stream has filled up with awesome posts, we’ve all been itching to express our deep appreciation of what is going on around the park and on the site. The thing is, not every nod of appreciation warrants a full comment. Who has time to comment when we’re all so busy trying to change the world? So, we did some brainstorming and mind-mapping, and omni-graphing and came up with an incredible new innovation in social networking that we’re pretty sure no one else has ever thought of!
Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you: THE LIKE BUTTON.
You know the drill.
Update: Just to be clear, this is not a Facebook Like button. It is an NYCGA like button. We do have sharing buttons for all the major players on many posts, events, pages, etc but that is external and different than the like buttons, comments, and favorites that are part of the social network that we’re building here.

What does it mean to connect this with facebook, google, and twitter instead of functioning as its own independent network removed from corporations?

It’d be hilarious if, instead of ‘Likes,’ people could ‘Occupy’ other people’s activity on the stream
“Ben is occupying Barbara’s activity”
“This picture has 12 occupiers”
Might be confusing from a semantic perspective, but think of the lulz!

We were thinking of giving “twinkles”. Roll over and the fingers animate.

Twinkles – hilarious!!

I twinkle that!
